Sunil Prabhu, a restless and passionate resident of Munirka Enclave, is a senior electronic media journalist with an interest in horticulture. He likes taking up challenges and resolving issues, especially if they deal with governance failures. Since 2005–06, the year he moved to Munirka Enclave with his family, he has been taking up causes and trying to solve people’s problems, from helping a blind widow to access the pension that had been denied to her for 40 years to preventing the degradation of a DDA park by residents who misused it for marriage functions and left it filthy and eroded.

His passion to restore neighbourhood green spaces eventually resulted in the greening of Munirka Enclave and neighbouring localities while saving groundwater. Some of the successful initiatives he undertook with support from the RWA were: planting trees in the society and along Nelson Mandela Road with children volunteering for the initiative; constructing the Community Centre with residents’ contribution and a funding of Rs. 50 lakh from Dr. Karan Singh, then the Rajya Sabha member representing Delhi, a space that is used for community functions and meetings; installing rooftop rainwater harvesting structures in the Community Centre; and initiating vermi- and leaf- composting in the society.
